Scottsdale Shadows Condos
This large condo community of thirteen 6 & 7 story buildings has an amazing location, right in the heart of Scottsdale. It is actually NOT age-restricted, but it is such a “senior favorite” that most people assume it is. The complex offers 3 pools, 2 tennis courts, lots of activities, and shuttle services to local shopping and medical facilities.
Overview
Many people assume that Scottsdale Shadows is an age-restricted 55+ retirement community, but it actually is NOT age restricted, so residents of any age, including children, are allowed to live in the community. Even though Scottsdale Shadows is NOT age restricted, it’s still a “senior favorite.”
Scottsdale Shadows offers seniors and non-seniors a great maintenance-free condominium lifestyle in a secure, gated and scenic environment of 13 six-story and seven-story buildings and their own, private 9-hole par 3 executive golf course. Some of the views from the higher-level balconies are stunning, and the lower level units often have beautiful views of the lush green grounds.
The location is ideal – just a couple minutes from Scottsdale Fashion Square and the “Old Scottsdale” downtown area. It is unlikely that another community comparable to this could ever be built again in such a high-demand area of Scottsdale.
Condos at Scottsdale Shadows
One, two and three bedrooms units are available, ranging anywhere from 784 to 2,400 sq.ft. Scottsdale Shadows was built from 1974 – 1984, so units in original condition might need some updating to bring them to the standards of today’s buyers, but many of the units have already had some stunning remodels. You can find nicely updated kitchens, bathrooms, and even walls removed for more open floorplans in the renovated units.
Units on higher floors are usually worth more because generally speaking, the higher you are, the better the views. HOA fees vary based on the building you’re in, and the size and value of your unit.
Only two of the 13 buildings offer in-unit laundry. The other 11 buildings have laundry rooms located on the 2nd and 5th floors. Most of the buildings don’t allow pets of any kind, and only two of the buildings allow dogs.
Located in the Heart of Scottsdale
Scottsdale Shadows is located just a couple miles from Scottsdale’s tony Fashion Square Mall and Waterfront area, with loads of designer stores and dining options that range from casual to chic.
The “Old Scottsdale” downtown area is only a couple miles farther. A great tourist destination, “Old Town Scottsdale” offers lots more dining, shopping, and art stores that feature authentic western art and bronze statues. There is also a horse-drawn carriage during the winter months that will take you on a nice ride through downtown.
